ROLLING MILL : To  roll a diverse product-mix ,a versatile but at the same time ,on economical Bar Mill has been proposed. Main Equipments for the mill are briefly described below.

Reheating Furnace : Alloy steel blooms require quick heating ( to avoid decarburization ) and through soaking to achieve trouble free rolling . Therefore ,the blooms have to be heated from all the four sides .This possibility exists only with Top & Bottom  Fired Multi Zone Walking Beam Type Reheating Furnace .Though a Walking Beam Type Reheating Furnace is rather costly but it is essential to properly heat blooms of many sizes and  steel grades . Such furnace are being manufactured indigenously.

26”.28” Reversing Blooming Mill : A26”.28” Reversing Blooming Mill (also sometimes called a Baby Blooming Mill) driven by DC motor  and complete with Manipulators ,Titling device & Roller Tables on both sides is the heart of Bar Mill.

Heavier Rounds & RCS shall be directly  finish rolled from this stand .

Intermediate & Finishing Mills : Three (3) strands Intermediate & Finishing Mill is arranged in ‘In –line Configuration ’  driven by one (I) No. 1500KW AC Motor .With Roller  Tables and Rope Skid Transfers on both side ,the layout becomes highly versatile to enable rolling the diversified product-mix .

Cooling Beds : Separate Turn-over type Automatic Cooling Beds are provided for each type of product because the  cooling  requirements are different for each shape and grade.

Finishing Facilities : Finishing Facilities including :

 
·         Mechanized Bar Inspection Benches.
·         Magnetic Particle Inspection Station .
·         Spectral Testing Station .
·         Annealing /Normalizing Furnaces.
·         Bar Straighteners.
·         Bundling & Despatch equipment  etc .

 

   

CONCAST :  Two major  techniques of casting liquid steel are currently in practice  viz .Ingot casting & continuous  casting .

The former is the conventional and proven, age –old process.

Keeping in view ,the  cost benefit analysis, grades of steel to be produced cast size and to meet the annual casting requirement, one 2-strand continuous casting  machine for casting blooms one 2-strand continuous casting machine for casting billets will be installed in the Steel Making Shop along with necessary tundish & mould /segment preparations and auxiliary facilities
