OXYGEN PLANT :
Oxygen is required mainly for blowing in the EAF for steel
making and also for torch cutting of billets in the
Continuous Casting Shop tap –hole opening in the cast
house of BF and to meet other general repair needs .Oxygen
shall also be required in production of stainless steel in
AOD .
Air separation Unit/Cold Box consists of Distillation
Column with heat Exchangers for heat transfer between the
incoming air and the out going cold Nitrogen and Oxygen
.Equipped with Expansion valves for controlling the
operation of the plant .Control panel for the cold box is
provided with the plant . Defrost heater for thawing plant
is provided on the cold box . It is also equipped with
liquid oxygen pump which is a single cylinder equipment
and delivers Bone-dry Oxygen at a pressure of
165kg/cm2.Cold box is insulated with perlite for
minimizing cold losses and reducing power consumption.
The liquid pump is a horizontal reciprocating pump. It
can pump cryogenic liquid Oxygen ,Nitrogen and Argon upto
165kg/Cm2 pressure normally and upto 250kg/Cm2 pressure in
special cases . The pumps are simple and require least
maintenance.
Low operating pressure :25-30kg/Cm2
Low Power Consumption:1.0 unit /m3 of oxygen
Option of simultaneous high purity Nitrogen
Option of liquid production .
Liquid Oxygen pump in lieu of bulky Oxygen Compressor
